Do insects die of old age?

I don't mean whether they go to heaven or anything like that. It's just that today, when I was walking with Yaco, I saw a bumblebee lying on the pavement, on its back, dead. It didn't look like it'd been killed because it wasn't squashed or anything. So that got me wondering: do insects die of old age? I mean, they are flying about like any old day and suddenly, thump!, they drop dead wherever they were flying around? Do they other insects from their family know they died? Do they wonder what came happened?

I'll look it up on google later to see if I can find any info. Anyhoo, just wondering.
